I am 33 years old and grew up in Florida. Both of my kids were born in Fl but it’s been over 6 years since we lived there. We moved around a bit because of my husbands job. Due to some recent changes, we have moved to central PA where my husband is from. It’s really nice being back around family. We have 2 kids; 14 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. My kids have become great helpers in the kitchen and love learning new things. My daughter is slowly trying to do more in the kitchen and occasionally I let her to make dinner. I seem to have a hard time letting go.
My husband and I met doing Civil War re-enacting and I’m super excited to be up in PA surrounded by all the history. I will be occasionally posting recipes of things you could make on a campfire. Campfire cooking is challenging and I love it!
I wanted to be able to share my favorite recipes with others so they too could enjoy the things my family has always loved. There are people out there that might be a little intimadated with cooking, and I want to let them know there is no need to be.If I can inspire just one person to get in the kitchen and cook for the first time, this will be all worth it.
I started cooking by myself when I was about 13 or 14. Before that I would help my dad out in the kitchen with anything he needed. I loved watching the cooking shows on PBS. Some of my favorites were Graham Kerr, Justin Wilson, Julia Child and Martin Yan. Martin Yan was just so cool. I loved waiting to see what saying his apron would say that day.
I have so many fond memories. I remember many Christmas mornings getting up and heading to my grandfathers house for breakfast and helping him cook. Holiday’s were always the best for me. Not just for the presents but the time spent in the kitchen with my dad preparing the big dinner. Now that I’m older and moved away from my childhood home, my grandmother comes to stay for awhile. The one thing that I love about her being around is that we teach each other things. She gives me advice I never thought of and I do the same for her. Memories are constantly being made and the ones that are being made at the present time are with my kids.
